Brothers  Tom & Fergal O'Dowd last years 1st and 2nd place in our Olympic race are today headding out to Lanzarote to take part on saturday in what has been described as the toughest Ironman event on the planet. Everyone here in Tri-Burgh wishes them the very best with their race and are looking forward to catching up again when the guys return.

One Day Licences

Just a gentle reminder that all athlete need to be either a member of Triathlon Ireland or have a one day licence to race in Tri-Burgh. With 50% of sprint participants and 30 % of the Olympic athletes not having a licence it is really important to get one before coming to Louisburgh.

They are available from www.triathlonireland.com and the deadline for purchasing one for Tri-Burgh is midnight on 01 June.

Overall 2011 winners of the mens Olympic race was Spiddal native and Castlebar based Tom O' Dowd with a time of 2:14:52 with Derval Devaney the first female for the second year running with a huge time of 2:34:37
The Sprint race was won by Lorraine Carey 1:19:50 and Gavin Doran 1:02:34
